15th September 2010 - New Service: Understand and manage legislation and regulatory risks that apply within your industry.
Our Own Experience!
Our latest ISO 9000 Quality Management System (QMS) Audit flagged up one minor non-conformance - the standards we have complied with for a number of years had been updated in 2008 and it was time for us to meet the new standards.
Further, our BIP 0008:2004 compliance for Legal Admissibility of electronic documents had also been updated in 2008 and it had also become a Standard BS 10008:2008 whereas it was previously only best practice guidance.
On the face of it, these 2 updates appeared easy enough to get to grips with, as we have been writing and internally auditing to the older standards for years. So with guidance from our auditors, we embarked on the task of updating our policies and procedures to meet the new 2008 levels. A few days of effort will see it all sorted!
In fact, it took us just over 12 days of effort to do the QMS alone!
As you, our clients, regularly require us to capture paper-based documents so that they can be stored and accessed electronically, we quickly realised the change from BIP 0008 to BS 10008 was no minor step and we needed professional help.
Having met Brian Wall of BML Solutions on a couple of occasions, I turned to him and he re-wrote our Policies and Procedures to meet the new standards in just 3 days – I reckon it would have taken us at least 2-3 times that number of days to get it done internally.
